The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
