The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, "I am your most supreme lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
