Say: "O followers of earlier revelation! Come unto that tenet which we and you hold in common: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall not ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, and that we shall not take human beings for our lords beside God." And if they turn away, then say: "Bear witness that it is we who have surrendered ourselves unto Him." 64 People of the Book! Why do you dispute with us about Abraham even though the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after the time of Abraham? Do you not understand? 65 Lo! ye are those who argue about that whereof ye have some knowledge: Why then argue ye concerning that whereof ye have no knowledge? Allah knoweth. Ye know not. 66 Neither was Abraham a Jew nor a Christian, but upright and obedient, and not an idolater. 67 Surely, the people who are closest to Abraham are those who followed him and this Prophet [Muhammad], and those who believe in him. God is the guardian of the believers. 68 Some of the People of the Book wish to make you go astray, but they lead none astray except themselves, though they do not sense it. 69 O People given the Book(s)! Why do you disbelieve in the signs of Allah, whereas you yourselves are witnesses? 70 O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): "Why do you mix truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know?" 71
