The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 He verily will be content. 21
