Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 The fields of corn and date-palm trees with soft and tender spathes, 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend." 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 and do her no harm, lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
