The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Do you approach males among the worlds 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
