And remember thou Our bondman Ayyub, what time he cried unto his Lord: verily the Satan hath touched me with affliction and suffering. 41 [So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink." 42 We gave him back his family and doubled their number as a blessing from Us and as a reminder to the people of understanding. 43 "And take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith (your wife), and break not your oath. Truly! We found him patient. How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)! 44 And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision. 45 Indeed, We chose them for an exclusive quality: remembrance of the home [of the Hereafter]. 46 And verily they are with us of the elect of the excellent ones. 47 Also, remember our worshipers Ishmael, Elisha, and ThulKifl, they are among the good. 48 This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) is a good final return (Paradise), 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, 50 Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, 51 ۞ They will have bashful wives of equal age with them. 52 This is the promise being given to you, for the Day of Reckoning. 53 (It will be said to them)! Verily, this is Our Provision which will never finish; 54 This is so! And for the Taghun (transgressors, disobedient to Allah and His Messenger - disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, criminals, etc.), will be an evil final return (Fire), 55 Hell!- they will burn therein, - an evil bed (indeed, to lie on)!- 56 All this (is for them); so let them taste boiling water and pus, 57 And similar other punishments in pairs. 58 [Its inhabitants will say], "This is a company bursting in with you. No welcome for them. Indeed, they will burn in the Fire." 59 They will say to them, "You are not welcome! It was you who brought this on us, an evil place to stay," 60 They will say: 'Our Lord, give those who brought this upon us double the punishment of the Fire' 61 And they will say, "Why do we not see men whom we used to count among the worst? 62 Was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them? 63 All this is certainly true -- the inhabitants of the Fire will blame one another in this way. 64
