Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
