The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day in splendour 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
