The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ A. L. M. 1 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? 2 We had tried those who were before them so that God knew who spoke the truth, and who were liars. 3 Do those who do evil think that they will get the better of Us? How bad is the judgement that they make! 4 He who hopes to meet God should know that God's appointed hour is sure to come. He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 Hence, whoever strives hard [in God's cause] does so only for his own good: for, verily, God does not stand in need of anything in all the worlds! 6 And those who believe, and do righteous deeds, We shall surely acquit them of their evil deeds, and shall recompense them the best of what they were doing. 7 And upon man We ordained kindness towards parents; and if they strive to make you ascribe a partner with Me, about which you do not have any knowledge, then do not obey them; towards Me only is your return and I will tell you what you used to do. 8 And as for those who believe and do good works, We verily shall make them enter in among the righteous. 9 Among people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah.” But when such a person is made to endure suffering in Allah's cause, he reckons the persecution he suffers at the hands of people as though it is a chastisement from Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, the same person will say “We were with you.” Does Allah not know whatever is in the hearts of the people of the world? 10 Most certainly God will mark out those who believe and mark out those who are hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to the believers. "Follow our way. We shall take the responsibility for your sins." They cannot take responsibility for any of the sins. They are only liars. 12 And most certainly they shall carry their own burdens, and other burdens with their own burdens, and most certainly they shall be questioned on the resurrection day as to what they forged. 13
