Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
