Lot's nation, belied their Messengers. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
