The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
