Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the finest, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But save him who fears 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
