And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they wish Us then to hasten the punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
