The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert, 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 Whereby the angels ascend unto Him and also the spirit, On a Day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 (Muhammad), exercise patience with no complaints. 5 behold, men look upon that [reckoning] as something far away 6 But We see it [as] near. 7 The day the sky becomes like molten brass, 8 and the mountains will become like dyed tufts of wool, 9 no loyal friend shall question loyal friend, 10 as they are given sight of them. The sinner will wish that he might ransom himself from the chastisement of that day even by his sons, 11 his companion (wife), his brother, 12 and his kinsfolk who had stood by him, 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 Taking away (burning completely) the head skin! 16 Inviting (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from the Right). 17 And amasses (wealth) then shuts it up. 18 ۞ Human beings are created greedy. 19 Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him 20 And niggardly when good touches him; 21 Not so those devoted to Prayer;- 22 Those who are regular in their prayers. 23 those in whose wealth is a right known 24 For the petitioner and the deprived - 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 and fear the chastisement of their Lord – 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 And whosoever seeketh beyond that, then it is those who are the trespassers 31 And those who fulfil their trusts and covenants, 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 and who guard their prayers [from all worldly intent]. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
