In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 By way of excuse or warning. 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 until an appointed time? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 For the living and the dead among you? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Judgement. We have assembled you all together with past generations. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
