Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
