The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
