And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
