Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed it would have been different. 199 This is how We have made the habit of denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And this Qur'an was not brought down by the devils. 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
