The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
