The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
