He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe of God 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
