The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
