The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
