The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Quran. 1 It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No people can outstrip the term for its destruction nor can it delay it. 5 And they said, “O you upon whom the Qur’an has been sent, you are indeed insane.” 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
