The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
