And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
