And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
