He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
