The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
