The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
