Say: 'People of the Book! Come now to a word common between us and you, that we serve none but God, and that we associate not aught with Him, and do not some of us take others as Lords, apart from God.' And if they turn their backs, say: 'Bear witness that we are Muslims.' 64 O followers of the Book! why do you dispute about Ibrahim, when the Taurat and the Injeel were not revealed till after him; do you not then understand? 65 Ha, you are the ones who dispute on what you know; why then dispute you touching a matter of which you know not anything? God knows, and you know not. 66 Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. He was an upright man, one who had surrendered himself to God. He was not one of those who associate partners with God. 67 Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him [in submission to Allah] and this prophet, and those who believe [in his message]. And Allah is the ally of the believers. 68 Pain would take a party of the people of the Book to lead you astray, and none they lead astray save themselves, and they perceive not. 69 O People given the Book(s)! Why do you disbelieve in the signs of Allah, whereas you yourselves are witnesses? 70 O followers of earlier revelation! Why do you cloak the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth of which you are [so well] aware? 71
