The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
