He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
