And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
