The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
