The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And shade extended 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
