Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
