The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
