The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
