Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 and those speeding along with ease, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 your ideas are confused. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
