The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
