The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 May he be condemned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
