The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 so leave them to eat and enjoy themselves and let them be beguiled by vain hopes; for soon they will realise [the truth]. 3 And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 Why dost thou not bring the angels unto us, if thou speakest truly?' 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples. 10 And never does a Noble Messenger come to them, but they mock at him. 11 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty: 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
