[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
