He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
