The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night that falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
