The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
